Male Liposculpture – Despite good health and reasonable level of fitness, some men may still have a body with disproportionate contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to family traits rather than a lack of weight control or fitness. Liposculpture, also known as high definition liposuction, is a newer surgical procedure which slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits. The techniques are designed to improve the contours and proportions of the body, thereby creating a more masculine appearance. Liposculpture can be used as a single procedure, or in other cases, it is used with plastic surgery procedures for men only, such as a face lift, breast reduction or a tummy tucks.
Liposculpture is highly effective in reducing localized fat deposits of the:
- Thighs
- Hips and buttocks
- Abdomen and waist
- Upper arms
- Back
- Inner knee
- Chest area
- Cheeks, chin and neck
- Calves and ankles

The procedure is also known as tumescent liposuction, suction lipectomy or suction lipoplasty and is usually performed using tumescent local anesthesia and mild sedation. Tumescent local anesthesia is a specialized solution prepared by Dr Calloway which is injected into the fatty tissues to allow long lasting pain relief and smoother contours with less bruising after surgery. There are a multitude of new liposculpture technologies available: laser assisted liposuction, ultrasound assisted liposuction, water injected liposuction, and power assisted liposculpture. Dr. Calloway has extensive experience with all of the technologies and will offer the best combination of technologies to achieve the ideal proportion of body contours.
Liposculpture can be combined with other procedures to enhance the results and increase the overall benefits. The cost of the surgery will vary depending on the procedures utilized and number of areas requiring treatment. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation or under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility. The procedure requires only tiny 1/8th inch incisions and so the usual recovery is approximately one week before the microscopic sutures are removed. Exercise regimens are usually resumed in 2-3 weeks. Also included as part of the procedure, Dr. Calloway performs non invasive laser treatments on the incisions to help them fade more rapidly. Thorough individualized instructions are reviewed with the patient and caregiver prior to surgery, and frequent postoperative visits with Dr. Calloway and his staff ensure a smooth and straightforward recovery.*
