Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. Commonly used for patients who have had significant weight loss, it can also be employed for patients with lesser amounts of skin excess or soft tissues asymmetries of the thighs. Also, if fitness and weight loss efforts have not achieved the goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to one’s overall body image, a surgical lift may be the best choice. The surgery is designed to hide the removal of excess skin and fat with incisions hidden in the natural groin and thigh creases. When tissue is also removed from the back of the thighs, the incisions are also hidden in the buttock/thigh crease. The thigh tissues are lifted to create a youthful and smooth appearance to the thighs and the tissues are anchored to the deep tissues of the pelvis for long lasting, stable and beautiful results. The surgery is most often performed under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility.
Dr. Calloway employs a variety of thigh lifting techniques to achieve the ideal shape and proportion of the thighs. As every patient presents with varying degrees and types of thigh and buttock drooping, Dr. Calloway recognizes that every procedure needs to be tailored and customized to the individual. Consequently, thigh lift surgery represents a wide array of procedures that are blended and adapted to each specific patient to achieve the desired natural youthful look to the thighs. A thigh lift with the least amount of incisions remains the goal with most patients. Thigh lifts may be used to correct drooping of tissues of the specific areas such as the inner thighs, outer thighs, front of the thighs or back of the thighs. Most thigh lift patients, however, benefit from some combination of thigh lift procedures to produce the best individualized results.
The cost of the surgery will vary depending on the procedures utilized. The surgery is performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility. The usual recovery is approximately 3 weeks before exercise regimens are resumed. The stitches do not require removal as they slowly dissolve over time. Also included as part of the procedure, Dr. Calloway performs non invasive laser treatments on the small hidden incisions to help them fade more rapidly. Thorough individualized instructions are reviewed with the patient and caregiver prior to surgery, and frequent postoperative visits with Dr. Calloway and his staff ensure a smooth and straightforward recovery.*
