Liposculpture, also known as high definition liposuction, is a newer surgical procedure which slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improves the contours, curves and proportion of the body.  The procedure is also known as tumescent liposuction, suction lipectomy or suction lipoplasty and is usually performed using tumescent local anesthesia and mild sedation.  Tumescent local anesthesia is a specialized solution prepared by Dr Calloway which is injected into the fatty tissues to allow long lasting pain relief and smoother contours with less bruising after surgery.  There are a multitude of new liposculpture technologies available:  laser assisted liposuction, ultrasound assisted liposuction, water injected liposuction, and power assisted liposculpture.  Dr. Calloway has extensive experience with all of the technologies and will offer the best combination of technologies to achieve the ideal proportion of body contours.  Liposculpture can be combined with other procedures to enhance the results and increase the overall benefits.

Liposuction techniques may be used to reduce localized fat deposits of the:

  • – Thighs
  • – Hips and buttocks
  • – Abdomen and waist
  • – Upper arms
  • – Back
  • – Inner knee
  • – Chest area
  • – Cheeks, chin and neck
  • – Calves and ankles

Liposculture has significant flexibility on the available options for areas treated, final proportions and contours.   Dr. Calloway will carefully review the patient’s desires and typically spends significant time discussing surgical options.  In addition to thorough consultations regarding high definition liposculpture, Dr. Calloway will review the patient’s overall goals and desired results to ensure optimum use of technologies and associated procedures.

The cost of the surgery will vary depending on the procedures utilized and number of areas requiring treatment.  The surgery is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation or under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility.  The procedure requires only tiny 1/8th inch incisions and so the usual recovery is approximately one week before the microscopic sutures are removed.  Exercise regimens are usually resumed in 2-3 weeks.  Also included as part of the procedure, Dr. Calloway performs non invasive laser treatments on the incisions to help them fade more rapidly.  Thorough individualized instructions are reviewed with the patient and caregiver prior to surgery, and frequent postoperative visits with Dr. Calloway and his staff ensure a smooth and straightforward recovery.*
