Breast augmentation surgery, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and improve symmetry of the breasts, or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Surgical enhancement of breast shape, size, and appearance can be performed using a wide array of new style saline or cohesive silicone gel implants placed through small hidden incisions. The procedure can increase fullness and projection of the breasts, improve the balance of one’s figure and enhance self-image and self-confidence. The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia in our Outpatient Surgical Facility.
Breast augmentation has significant flexibility on the available options for breast sizes, shapes and projections. Dr. Calloway will carefully review the patient’s desires and typically spends significant time discussing surgical options. In addition to thorough consultations, Dr. Calloway advocates the use of photographs and/or 3D rendering to select the final desired appearance of the breasts. This allows the patient to focus on the most important part of the surgery: the selection of the ideal desired shape and appearance of the breasts after surgery. Dr. Calloway will utilize these photographs of the desired outcome to determine the exact size and shaped implant to be placed during breast augmentation surgery. Through this process, Dr. Calloway can precisely choose the optimum surgical approach and style of implants to produce the desired postoperative result.
The cost of the surgery will vary depending on the procedures and style of breast implants utilized. The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility or in some cases under local anesthesia with sedation. The usual recovery is approximately 3 weeks before exercise regimens are usually resumed. The stitches do not require removal as they slowly dissolve over time. Also included as part of the procedure, Dr. Calloway performs non invasive laser treatments on the small hidden incisions to help them fade more rapidly. *
