Breast Lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. The surgery involves the lifting and contouring of the breasts with relocation of the nipple and areola to their ideal positions. In some individuals, the areola becomes enlarged over time, and a breast lift will also reduce this to its ideal size, shape and location on the breast mound. A breast lift can rejuvenate one’s figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted. Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of the breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. However, in some woman, they find that after a breast lift, they are wearing a smaller cup size. For more significant changes in volume, breast augmentation or breast reduction can be combined with a breast lift to achieve the ideal size and shape.
Dr. Calloway employs a variety of breast lifting techniques to achieve the ideal proportions of the breasts. As every patient presents with varying degrees of breast drooping, known as ptosis of the breasts, Dr. Calloway recognizes that every procedure needs to be tailored and customized to the individual. Consequently, mastopexy surgery represents a wide array of procedures that are blended and adapted to each specific patient to achieve the desired natural uplifted look to the breasts. A breast lift with minimal limited incisions is the goal with most patients. Incisions located around the areolas allow movement of the nipples to their ideal positions and a single vertical incision allows lifting and shaping of the breasts. This type of mastopexy is known as a “Lollipop lift” and poses significant benefits over traditional breast lifting techniques due to the lack of visible scarring.
The cost of the surgery will vary depending on the procedures utilized. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation or under general anesthesia in our Accredited Outpatient Surgical Facility. The usual recovery is approximately 3 weeks before exercise regimens are resumed. The stitches do not require removal as they slowly dissolve over time. Also included as part of the procedure, Dr. Calloway performs non invasive laser treatments on the small hidden incisions to help them fade more rapidly. Thorough individualized instructions are reviewed with the patient and caregiver prior to surgery, and frequent postoperative visits with Dr. Calloway and his staff ensure a smooth and straightforward recovery.*
